PTK Asia Pacific Convention 2014
Pekiti Tirsia Kali Manila sent a delegation to the recent PTK Asia Pacific (ASPAC) Confederation convention, March 14 - 16, 2014. The event was held at the Kamana Sanctuary Resort and Spa at Subic Bay. Delegations from the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Guam, Singapore, Turkey, Russia, United Kingdom, Kazakhstan and Mexico started arriving days before the opening of the convention, which officially began with the traditional party at Makati.
The opening party was both a joyous and poignant affair; a candlelight moment of prayer and respect was given for the late Tuhon Jasper De Ocampo. His wife Celia and son Justin were present for the ceremony.
The ASPAC conventions are the largest gathering of Pekiti Tirsia Kali instructors and practitioners in the world. Various Tuhon instructors were on hand to help with the teaching duties, namely Tuhon Leslie Buck, Tuhon Philip Gelinas, Tuhon Rommel Tortal and Tuhon Jared Wihongi.
The material taught at this year's conventions was as varied as expect. All of the instructors took turns teaching single and double stick, single and double knives, spear and empty handed techniques. On the evening of the 2nd day promotions were awarded to some attendees, among them four from PTK Manila delegation. Dan Sabu, Rjam Cosca and Firat Erdem were awarded Guro ranks and Jay Francisco was given the rank of Lakan Guro.
